Summer League Recap: Jahmir Young, Livingston Shine as Guards Stand Out

The latest Summer League slate featured breakout performances from several guards looking to make their mark, including Jahmir Young’s best showing yet, Chris Livingston proving he belongs after signing his NBA deal, and strong contributions from Nikola Markovic and Javon Freeman-Liberty.

Jahmir Young — Steady Growth, Big Impact

Jahmir Young continues to impress with his consistent production and poise under pressure. In his most recent outing, Young controlled the offense, finding teammates and hitting big shots when needed. His ability to run the point efficiently while still looking for his own shot shows he can adapt to a reserve NBA role if given the opportunity. Scouts have praised his composure and defensive effort throughout Summer League.

Chris Livingston — Earning His Spot

Fresh off officially signing his NBA contract, Chris Livingston played with confidence and purpose. He attacked the rim, hit a couple of spot-up jumpers, and brought energy defensively. His physicality on the wing and willingness to do the dirty work bode well for carving out a rotational role on his team this season.

Bogoljub Markovic — Versatile Big

Markovic continues to show flashes of a modern forward. His pick-and-pop game was on display, and he crashed the boards hard while providing solid rim protection. Though still a bit raw, Markovic’s feel for the game and ability to space the floor make him an intriguing developmental piece.

Javon Freeman-Liberty — Instant Offense

Javon Freeman-Liberty provided a spark off the bench with his aggressive scoring mindset. He got downhill with ease, creating contact and converting at the line. His ability to create his own shot and play both guard spots gives him value as a microwave scorer on the second unit.

Scout’s Take

Young continues to build a case for a full time spot. Livingston is already proving his contract was earned. Markovic remains a long-term project, but one with upside, while Freeman-Liberty brings immediate scoring punch. Each player showed traits teams can build on as Summer League winds down.
