Rhamondre Stevenson to Retain Starting Role
The Patriots’ projected lead back in 2025 remains Rhamondre Stevenson, as New England is banking on a bounce-back season after an inconsistent 2024. Stevenson signed a four-year extension last offseason, cementing his place as a core piece of the offense. First-year head coach Mike Vrabel made it clear this spring that Stevenson will “be a large part of what we do” (Evan Lazar, Patriots.com).
Last season, Stevenson rushed for 801 yards and 7 touchdowns on 207 carries. With a more dynamic Patriots offense expected this year, he’s positioned to resume a very large workload.
Behind Stevenson, Antonio Gibson returns after showing strong efficiency in his first year with the team. Rookie second-round pick Treyeveon Henderson is also in the mix, and both he and Gibson bring similar skill sets as versatile backs. That redundancy could lead to a battle for the change-of-pace role as the team sorts out its rotation.
For fantasy managers, Henderson’s short-term outlook takes a bit of a hit. While many rookie drafts have seen him go in the first half of the first round, Stevenson’s contract and entrenched role always made 2025 a tough path to immediate touches. Dynasty managers may need to exercise patience.
