Chargers WR Tre Harris, Most 2nd-Round Picks Still Unsigned as Camp Opens

With Los Angeles Chargers players reporting to camp today, one notable absence looms: second-round pick Tre Harris remains unsigned — part of a growing league-wide standoff over rookie contract guarantees.

Harris is one of 30 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL Draft who remain unsigned, per Adam Schefter. As of today, only two players from the round have finalized their rookie contracts.

At the heart of the dispute is the precedent set by Texans rookie Jayden Higgins, who earlier this summer became the first second-round pick in NFL history to sign a fully guaranteed four-year deal. That landmark contract has emboldened agents representing other second-round picks — including Harris — to push for similar guarantees, something teams have historically resisted at this level of the draft.

With time still left before full practices begin, no players have officially held out yet, but insiders warn that camps could see an “inordinate number” of second-rounders sitting out until deals are reached.

For Harris, the situation is particularly notable for the Chargers, who drafted him with expectations of competing for a significant role in Year 1.

Fantasy Implications

Dynasty managers don’t need to panic yet — unsigned rookies almost always get deals done before the regular season — but redraft players should be cautious about second-round rookies. Camp reps and preseason work are critical for rookies trying to earn snaps, and prolonged absences could delay their production early in the season.

Among those potentially impacted:

  • Tre Harris (WR, Chargers): Projected WR3/WR4 on a team lacking depth, but missing camp would hurt his chances to open the year in that role.
  • Luther Burden (WR, Bears): Faces similar risk as he acclimates to the NFL and builds chemistry with Caleb Williams.
  • Mason Taylor (TE, Jets): A clear path to snaps, but he still needs camp to prove himself and lock down the role.

On the other hand, Jack Bech (WR, Raiders) signed his deal back in May and is already a full go for camp — giving him an edge over his peers in early-season value.

For dynasty formats, these situations are worth monitoring, but they don’t significantly change long-term outlooks yet.

We’ll continue to track Harris’ negotiations and the ripple effect this standoff could have on the rookie class — and your fantasy lineups — as camps progress.
