Thomas Fidone Turning Heads at Tight End University

New York Giants Day 3 pick Thomas Fidone was one of 72 tight ends who attended Tight End University this summer, and his peers took notice of his rising talent.

Per Matt Sottile of KETV, Travis Kelce offered some unexpected praise for the rookie out of Nebraska:

“I got some pretty cool compliments from Kelce, just out of the blue. He told me I was extremely athletic and moved extremely well. He told me the top of my routes were really good. He didn’t say it exactly like that, but he said it. So just being able to hear that from him was cool.”

Kelce’s comments have propelled Fidone up waiver boards, making him a viable stash even in shallow TE-premium 12-team leagues.

The Giants’ tight end room is far from empty, but it lacks an entrenched starter. Theo Johnson impressed in limited action as a rookie and seems primed for a larger role in 2025. Daniel Bellinger remains a steady presence as a blocker who can chip in as a receiver.

So Where Does Fidone Fit?

His ability to contribute in the short passing game and rack up yards after the catch gives him a unique skill set in this offense - one that meshes well with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s strengths.

Dynasty Outlook

Personally, Fidone was a post-draft target of mine in several leagues because of his athletic profile and intriguing landing spot, even if his draft capital was modest. While I expect Theo Johnson to emerge as a solid TE2 this year, I’m stashing Fidone wherever I can as the Giants’ passing attack continues to grow.

This year’s tight end class has been underrated beyond the top six prospects. It was a deep group with plenty of names poised to pop in their first couple of seasons and Fidone is one of the better bets among them.
