Trending Now: 07/06/2025 - Nikola Vucevic Buyout Candidate?

Trending Now is our space for urgent, time-sensitive news that doesn’t fit our usual content rotation. Think: game-day injury bombshells, last-minute trades, or pre-waiver chaos.

Nikola Vucevic and the Bulls Headed for a Split?

The Chicago Bulls and their 34‑year‑old big man Nikola Vucevic are on very different timelines — and it looks like that reality could finally be coming to a head.

Last winter, the Bulls quietly shopped Vucevic’s name around the league, reportedly seeking a first‑round pick in return. However, they never found a taker willing to meet that asking price.

Now, Evan Sidery (Forbes) reports the Bulls and Vucevic may seek another kind of resolution. On Twitter, Sidery noted:

“The Bulls have had little luck generating a trade market for Nikola Vucevic.

After demanding a 1st‑round pick at the deadline, Chicago’s market for the soon‑to‑be 35‑year‑old has dried up.

Vucevic wants to finish his career on a contending team, so a buyout could be an option.”

That logic tracks in today’s NBA — where one day a front office is holding out for assets and the next day a player is bought out just to move on. In this case, it might benefit both sides to find a clean resolution and let Vucevic join a contender.

Fantasy Outlook: Should You Buy?

Vucevic has quietly been one of the most consistent fantasy big men in the league since arriving in Chicago. Last season he averaged:

  • 18.5 points
  • 10.1 rebounds
  • 3.5 assists
  • In 31 minutes per game

Would leaving Chicago put his minutes in jeopardy?

At his age, it would make sense for a playoff team to trim his workload under 30 minutes per night — but that shouldn’t scare fantasy managers off. Whatever team acquires him is likely doing so out of need, not luxury. There are contenders around the league with serious holes at center, and Vucevic is still capable of filling them.

Final Word: A Smart Buy for the Right Team

Vucevic is a clear buy‑low candidate in dynasty for managers who aren’t competing and want to flip an aging asset. Rebuilders in particular should look to move him now while his production is still strong.

For competitive teams? He remains a rock‑solid piece with high‑floor production. I don’t mind pivoting from someone like Anfernee Simons and a late pick to someone like Collin Sexton to land Vucevic if you’re making a title push.
