Summer League Recap: Bona, Edgecombe, Edwards, and Broome Key Sixers Win Over Wizards

The Philadelphia 76ers secured another Summer League win over the Washington Wizards, thanks to standout performances from their young bigs and wings. While the offense wasn’t perfect, Philly’s size, defensive activity, and timely shooting from Jordan Edwards powered the team.

Adem Bona – Defensive Anchor

Bona continued to flash elite defensive potential, playing 28 minutes and shooting 4-5 (80%) while collecting 8 rebounds and an incredible 6 blocks. He added 9 points, holding down the paint and forcing the Wizards to settle for tough shots.

VJ Edgecombe – Aggressive and Relentless

Edgecombe battled through a cold shooting night (4-14 FG) but still produced 15 points by getting to the line (6-6 FT). He filled up the box score with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block, showcasing his motor and versatility.

Justin Edwards – Perimeter Production

Edwards provided perimeter firepower, hitting 5-10 from three and finishing with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. His confidence from deep helped space the floor and gave the offense some much-needed rhythm.

Johni Broome – Double-Double Machine

Broome quietly delivered one of the most impactful performances of the game. In 29 minutes, he scored 14 points on 5-11 shooting, grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, and even knocked down 2 threes. His ability to stretch the floor while battling inside adds another layer to the Sixers’ big-man rotation.

The Scout’s Take

For dynasty fantasy basketball, Broome and Bona both profile as stashable bigs with defensive upside and sneaky offensive skill. Edgecombe’s all-around production keeps his floor high despite inefficiency, while Edwards’ shooting makes him a potential value play in deep formats.
