Knueppel Shines, Nembhard Steady, Kalkbrenner Solid

The Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks squared off in Summer League action last night, giving fans a closer look at a trio of promising young players: rookie Kon Knueppel, center Ryan Kalkbrenner, and point guard Ryan Nembhard.

Kon Knueppel Shows His All-Around Game

Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel put together one of the most complete performances of the night. The sharpshooting wing scored 16 points on 5‑of‑10 shooting (3‑of‑5 from three) and showcased his versatility by adding 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. His ability to rebound in traffic, make the right reads, and hit timely shots stood out. Knueppel looked comfortable on both ends, showing why Charlotte made him a top‑5 pick.

Ryan Kalkbrenner Anchors the Paint

Fellow Hornets rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner also made his presence felt, anchoring the paint with his size and efficiency. Kalkbrenner finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist, hitting 3‑of‑6 from the floor and even knocking down a three. His defensive positioning and willingness to contest shots gave the Hornets stability down low.

Ryan Nembhard Runs the Show for Dallas

On the other side, Mavericks guard Ryan Nembhard ran the offense with poise and control. The rookie playmaker posted 11 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds, shooting 4‑of‑8 from the field and 2‑of‑3 from deep. His decision‑making and ability to create for teammates kept the Mavericks organized despite offensive struggles elsewhere.
