Warriors’ Wings Shine in Win Over Jazz Despite Big Nights from Williams, Filipowski
The Golden State Warriors rode strong performances from Will Richard and Alex Toohey to a 103–93 Summer League victory over the Utah Jazz, overcoming a big showing from Utah’s young trio of Cody Williams, Kyle Filipowski, and Isaiah Collier.
Warriors: Richard and Toohey Step Up
Will Richard delivered a gritty all-around performance, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. Though he shot just 3-of-7 from the field and 1-of-5 from three, he knocked down all 3 of his free throws and made key defensive plays to help Golden State keep momentum.
Fellow forward Alex Toohey provided scoring punch, putting up 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Toohey was aggressive attacking the rim and earned 7 free-throw attempts, converting 6. His ability to create mismatches was evident throughout.
The Warriors also got a big lift from Gabe Madsen’s shooting off the bench (22 points, 6 threes) in an all-around balanced attack.
Jazz: Young Core Fights Hard
For Utah, Cody Williams showed flashes of his two-way potential, leading the Jazz with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. He was active defensively and showcased his slashing ability, though turnovers (3) and fouls (7) marred an otherwise strong night.
Kyle Filipowski was aggressive on the offensive end, scoring 21 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, though he struggled from deep (1-of-8 from three). His willingness to shoot and attack remains promising as he adjusts to the pace of play.
Isaiah Collier added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, running the offense in stretches and showing his creativity, though his efficiency (3-of-7 FG) and turnovers (3) left room for improvement.
Scout’s Take
The Warriors continue to find impact from their wings, with Richard’s defensive activity and Toohey’s scoring upside both standing out. Madsen’s shooting provides additional depth. For Utah, Williams looks every bit the high-upside prospect he was drafted to be, with Filipowski and Collier rounding out a promising core despite some inefficiency.
