Results: 07/13/2025 - Newell sets Summer High
The Atlanta Hawks picked up a decisive Summer League win over the Phoenix Suns, 98–80, led by standout performances from Jacob Toppin and rookie Asa Newell, while the Suns’ Koby Brea turned in an impressive all-around effort despite the loss.
For the Suns, Brea continued to showcase his versatility and shooting touch, finishing with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists while knocking down a pair of threes and playing solid defense. The forward has been one of Phoenix’s more consistent contributors through Summer League play, showing a knack for finding open looks and contributing on the glass.
Atlanta’s frontcourt duo was dominant throughout. Toppin set the tone early, scoring 15 points on 60% shooting while adding 8 rebounds and showing off improved range with two made threes. His energy on both ends helped the Hawks control the tempo.
Newell, meanwhile, delivered his best Summer League showing yet. The rookie big man was unstoppable inside, pouring in 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds. His efficiency around the rim and activity on the boards gave Atlanta a steady interior presence all night.
The Hawks also got contributions from Nikola Đurišić (16 points, 4 assists) and strong bench play to seal the win, while Phoenix saw balanced but inefficient production from their supporting cast around Brea and Oso Ighodaro (18 points, 9 rebounds).

Scout’s Take
Newell continues to look like a high-upside project worth monitoring for dynasty formats, while Toppin’s polish and motor make him a name to watch for deeper-league relevance. Brea’s shooting and hustle have put him firmly on Phoenix’s radar for a possible rotation spot.
