Bassey Dominates as Celtics Handle Knicks

The Boston Celtics leaned on a dominant performance from big man Charles Bassey to secure a Summer League win over the New York Knicks.

Bassey finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line, showing why he continues to be one of the most efficient and productive bigs in Summer League play.

Julian Walsh added another strong two-way showing for Boston despite struggling from the field. Walsh scored 13 points on just 2-of-10 shooting but drew plenty of contact, hitting 8 of 11 free throws while adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Meanwhile, Baylor Scheierman contributed across the board, finishing with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, though he also struggled to connect from three (1-for-7).

For the Knicks, inefficiency plagued key contributors. PacĂ´me Dadiet scored just 7 points on 3-of-11 shooting and hit only 1 of 5 threes.

Ariel Hukporti did work on the glass with 13 rebounds but was quiet offensively with just 9 points and 5 turnovers.

Point guard Tyler Kolek had perhaps the roughest night, shooting 1-for-13 and missing all six of his three-point attempts while finishing with only 3 points and 4 assists.

Kevin McCullar Jr. was the lone bright spot for New York, exploding for 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting, showing his shot creation and aggressiveness at the rim.

Scout’s Take:

Bassey continues to dominate with his interior scoring and rebounding. Walsh and Scheierman both bring intriguing versatility despite inefficient shooting. For the Knicks, McCullar remains a standout, but Dadiet, Hukporti, and Kolek will need to find their rhythm if they want to secure roles.
