Results: NBA Summer League Night Two

The future of the NBA began their display on Saturday night as the Utah and California Summer Leagues tipped off. Here’s a full recap of the key performances from night two:

Bronny James Debuts, Swider Stays Hot as Lakers Top Heat

The California Classic rolled on Sunday night with the Lakers handing the Heat their first loss of summer league play, as both teams moved to 1–1 in the showcase. The night featured a much-anticipated debut and standout performances on both sides.

The Lakers’ balanced attack was highlighted by the summer debut of Bronny James, who chipped in 10 points in just 10 minutes, showing flashes of confidence on both ends of the floor. Veteran two‑way forward Cole Swider continued his impressive streak, pouring in 20 points on 7/10 shooting, including a scorching stretch from beyond the arc.

Rookie Dalton Knecht continued to fill up the box score despite a cold shooting night, finishing with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in 22 minutes while shooting 2–7 from the field.

For Miami, Kel’el Ware battled through another inefficient outing, scoring 12 points on 4/10 shooting. European guard Kasparas Jakucionis showed some defensive chops with 3 steals and perfect 4/4 from the free throw line despite going 0–3 from deep. The Heat were without Pelle Larsson, who was held out.

David Jones Garcia Leads All Scorers

In the second game of the night, G League standout David Jones Garcia exploded for a game‑high 24 points, building on his previous 18‑point outing and making a strong case for training camp attention.

Highly‑touted rookies Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant did not suit up for this one, while Alex Toohey remained sidelined as well.

Making his summer league debut, Will Richard made a solid first impression with 16 points in 25 minutes, showing his versatile scoring game. Meanwhile, LJ Cryer caught fire from downtown, drilling 5 of his 7 three‑point attempts to finish with a team‑high 19 points.
